Sarah Buchlaw
MFT Intern
Sarah Buchlaw is a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern. Sarah’s work is informed by her education in systemic relational therapy and her background in community organizing. She enjoys supporting individuals, couples, and families in growing, developing insight, strengthening their relationships, and navigating transitions. She feels passionately that relational therapy can be a tool for personal and collective liberation—liberation from pain, generational trauma, and the systems of oppression that harm all of us.
Sarah works from a client-centered, feminist, identity-affirming, anti-oppressive framework. She draws from various theories and modalities depending on each client’s unique needs, including: Narrative Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Pyschodynamic Therapy. Sarah’s perspective is shaped by her experience as a white, cisgender, second-generation Jewish American woman with invisible disabilities. Through a trusting therapeutic relationship, Sarah hopes to make every client feel seen and honored for their whole self.
Sarah is currently completing her Master of Arts in Couples and Family Therapy at Seattle University. She is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and the Washington Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (WAMFT). Before training to be a therapist, Sarah received her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Puget Sound in Hispanic International Studies and African American Studies.
